Scholarship Provisions and Eligibility

  • Student using a computer in the Library Scholarship Provisions

    The recipient shall receive the following:

    1. Coverage of full-time tuition and education-related fees (does not include items such as meal plans, housing, or parking)
    2. Health insurance reimbursement allowance up to $1,200 per year
    3. Professional-development allowance (travel, professional certification, etc.) up to $3,000 per academic year
    4. Book allowance up to $1,000 per academic year
    5. One laptop, not to exceed $1,000
    6. Stipend of $20,000 per academic year for undergraduate students

    Scholarship Eligibility

    To be considered for the Scholarship for Service, the student must:

    1. be a United States citizen,
    2. be a current or prospective* full-time student with an Information Assurance major or minor,
    3. meet selection criteria for the U.S. federal employment,†
    4. have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale,
    5. participate in a mentoring program,
    6. be eligible for employment in local, state, or federal government.

    * Prospective students may apply for the SFS simultaneously with their admission to the Information Assurance major or minor.
    † Job placement in government organizations typically requires high-level security clearances, and scholarship recipients are required to undergo the background investigation necessary to obtain such clearances.
