Marketing

Meetings with the Communication and Marketing Department were held to develop news releases and other marketing strategies to attract more students to CIS programs and promote the PC4A project. A news release titled “$400K grant to benefit BC3 Networking and Cybersecurity Students” was published on January 19, 2023.

Student-Centered Activities

A boot camp designed to prepare students for the CompTIA Network+ certification exam was held during the winter 2022 session. The boot camp instructor spent considerable time developing the curriculum, as well as developing the criteria for students to qualify for participation. Ultimately five students qualified, and three of the five students successfully completed the boot camp and were awarded exam vouchers for the CompTIA Network+ certification.  Of the three students who completed the boot camp, one has already successfully earned their Network+ certification.

Additionally, college administrators and project staff have held discussions to create scholarship award criteria, with an anticipated award date of spring 2023.

Tutoring

The process has begun to hire a mentor/tutor with a background in cybersecurity to better assist students with technical assignments, as well as provide guidance on career options. A potential candidate has been chosen with an anticipated start date of February 1, 2023. Additionally, an advising sheet was created to share with school advisors to utilize when talking with students about degrees and career choices.
