The IUP Computer Science Department has a well-earned reputation for producing interns who draw high praise from employers that sponsor them.
Computer Science students interested in an internship have a couple of programs to choose from. For more information, contact Dr. Terrence Fries, internship coordinator.
For this program, an internship lasts twenty-three weeks and spans one semester (Fall or Spring) and one summer. Interns are paid and earn 12 academic credits. They also gain valuable experience that they can cite on their résumés. The most common type of position that interns may receive involves three-tier architecture, working on one or more of the components; however, there are a wide variety of positions and companies.
The Summer/Summer program spans two summers (twelve weeks each) typically following the sophomore and junior years. Interns are paid and earn 12 academic credits total (six credits per summer). A wide variety of positions and companies are available.
