The IUP Institute for Rural Health and Safety brings together university personnel from various disciplines and professional backgrounds to solve problems related to rural health and safety. It provides driver education, improvement programs, first responder, and emergency response team training.

The Center brings quantitative literacy and the hands-on use of mathematics manipulatives with a real data approach to the teaching of K-12 Pennsylvania teachers of mathematics and to their students.
