IUP uses Handshake for employers, alumni, and students!

Students

All IUP students have a free Handshake account which can be accessed through the IUP Single Sign-On System. Current students should not fill out the Alumni Registration Form since your account has already been created.

Handshake is a one-stop shop for students to prepare and launch their careers; and for companies, nonprofits, and organizations of all shapes and sizes to find, recruit, and hire IUP alumni. Handshake uses data to help students find jobs or internships that best match their interests.

  1. Log in to Handshake
    • When you sign in to your account at iup.joinhandshake.com, you will then log in with your IUP SSO password.
  2. Complete Your Profile - Check out the Three Must-Haves on your Handshake Profile.
    • Add your work experiences, skills, interests, and organizations.
  3. Discover Jobs for You
    • Browse collections of jobs based on your profile and interests.

Alumni

IUP alumni can create an account by signing up for Handshake using their personal email address. The IUP Single Sign-On function is available only for current students. Current students should not fill out the Alumni Registration Form since your account has already been created. Please follow instructions listed above. Thank you!

Please Note:

The IUP Career and Professional Development Center carefully screens every employer and internship/job posting in Handshake to ensure legitimacy. Occasionally employment scams occur. Students and alumni should be vigilant and are urged to help identify scams. If you receive a suspicious email from an employer (even if they say it is from or endorsed by an IUP office), please do not respond to the email, but contact our office immediately at 724-357-2235 or career-development@iup.edu.

While every effort is made to verify the legitimacy of both organizations and jobs posted, the university does not endorse or recommend any particular employer, and a posting does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation. The university explicitly makes no representations or guarantees about job listings or the accuracy of the information provided by the employer. The university is not responsible for safety, wages, working conditions, or any other aspect of off-campus employment without limitation. It is the responsibility of students and alumni to perform due diligence in researching employers when applying for or accepting employment and to thoroughly research the facts and reputation of each organization to which they are applying. Students and alumni should be prudent and use common sense and caution when applying for or accepting any position.
