Eberly College of Business: Business Cording Ceremony

All College of Business students will be corded with a special business cord by the dean of the Eberly College of Business. These cords will be paid for by the college, and students can then wear them to the university commencement ceremony.

  • No tickets are needed for the Eberly ceremony (but are needed for the university ceremony), as we will have plenty of room for family members and friends to enjoy the ceremony.
  • Registration is required!
  • Parking will be available in the Eberly Lot, the Zink Lot, and the parking garage. You do not need to pay for parking spots on the day of commencement. Please keep in mind that you will be competing for spots with other graduates across campus; plan accordingly.
  • Specific sections will be identified by major. You should sit in your section. If you are a double major, you can select either section

  • Refreshments will be provided from 11:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Eberly College of Business lobby/atrium. Refreshments will not be provided during the ceremony. Registration is required as noted above.
  • Wear your graduation regalia.

Photos are permitted; however, no one will be permitted on the gymnasium floor during the ceremony. Students and family members may take photos from their seats. Pictures may be taken before the ceremony.  The stage will be available for pictures after the ceremony.

Actual diplomas aren't issued at college-level ceremonies or at the university ceremony. They will be mailed to your home address only after all grades have been posted and you have been cleared for graduation. Diploma covers will be issued at the university-level ceremony. Students who are unable to attend the university ceremony can purchase a diploma cover at the bookstore.

Remember: Hundreds of family members have invested a significant amount of money, time, and concern for their children over these past academic years. This is supposed to be a special time for everyone!

University-Level Commencement Ceremonies

In addition to the attending the business college cording ceremony, business majors should attend the afternoon university-level commencement ceremony, which will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. Arrival at the KCAC is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and this is conveniently right across the street from Eberly. This ceremony recognizes graduates from the Eberly College of Business, the College of Arts and Humanities, and the College of Education. Visit the IUP Commencement website for more information about the university-level commencement ceremonies. Tickets are required for this ceremony.
