Mr. Serafini was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania and is a 1961 graduate of IUP, having earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education. While at IUP, he served as student government president and was active in many university organizations.

After serving as an officer in the U.S. Army, Mr. Serafini began his business career in 1964 as a computer systems marketing representative for the IBM Corporation. Six years later, he became a partner and co-owner of Computerpeople, Inc. During his 27 years of association, Computerpeople grew to employ over 1,300 computer professionals. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, his company also maintained offices in Columbus, Cincinnati, Sacramento, and Portland, providing systems expertise in all disciplines to major corporations throughout the United States. Terry sold his interest in 1997.

Terry also cofounded Compucom, Inc., a digital imaging and microfilm solutions company located in Pittsburgh. He is a current board member.

Terry and his wife, Janet, reside in the Pittsburgh area. They have two sons and three grandchildren.
