Barbara Stahl Lovejoy, a native of Ellwood City, became the first IUP graduate to be admitted as a partner in an international public accounting firm. While a senior at IUP, she accepted an accounting internship and, upon graduation, started her career at Haskins & Sells with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, specializing in Accounting. She obtained her certified public accountant license and was admitted as a partner with Deloitte Haskins & Sells and subsequently with Deloitte & Touche. Currently, she is a licensed financial investment advisor with a Pittsburgh-based investment advisory firm in addition to serving as an independent consultant for national and international corporations.

Throughout her career she has been active in her profession, serving as president, vice president, and treasurer of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and as a member of the Statewide council and Executive Committee of the PICPA. She has served on the boards of directors of the Western Pennsylvania Community Accountants, the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Tri-State Retail Financial Executives Association, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

She has also been an active contributor to IUP, having served as president of the IUP Alumni Association, vice president of both the Foundation for IUP Board and the Alumni Association, and treasurer of the Alumni Association. She has been a member of the IUP President's Council and the Business Advisory Council for the Eberly College of Business at IUP.

Barbara has received numerous awards for community service and marketing while at Deloitte. She was highlighted in Working Woman and Executive Report magazines and has appeared as a guest interviewer on KDKA-TV and Money Talks cable TV series in addition to publishing articles in the Pittsburgh Business Times, Tribune-Review, and Beaver County Times. She is a recipient of both the IUP Alumni Ambassador Award and the IUP Distinguished Alumni Award and was inducted into the IUP chapter of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society.
