Cynthia Oliver '84, MA '85Director of Development

Cynthia Valenta Oliver brings 20 years of experience as a senior level nonprofit management and development professional. In addition to her current role as the director of development for WQED Multimedia, she and her husband John are owners of Oliver Development, a real estate company, and Oliver Natural Resources, a gas brokerage company. She is a nationally certified fund raising executive (CFRE), certified nonprofit executive director (GSUSA), and a certified WePlanWell strategic planning consultant. She has served as CEO of two Girl Scout Councils, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Young Rembrandts of SWPA, and has nearly a decade of experience as a senior level marketing and business development director in the private sector. Cindi offers a strong combination of expertise as a scholar, leader, and practitioner and brings unique perspectives from both the public and private sector.

Ms. Oliver holds a master's degree in Public Administration and a bachelor's degree in Public Relations and is in the final stages of completing her PhD in Higher Education Administration. Her dissertation is a qualitative study examining the underlying factors that impact female alumni donor decisions offering important insights for informed practice.

Cindi is a member of Association of Fund Raising Professionals, the Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council, and the United Way Women's Leadership Council. She is the former president of Serra Catholic High School Board of Directors and currently and serves on the advisory board of Indiana University of Pennsylvania Eberly College of Business, the IUP Alumni Hall of Distinction selection committee, Penn State University Parent's Council, where she chairs the council's development committee, and is the current director of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Chief Operating Officer Business Forum.
