Sheila L. Young graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in May, 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. She started her career as a staff accountant at Deloitte & Touche in Pittsburgh, where she worked for five years until her promotion to manager in 1995. She specialized in working on Fortune 500 companies, including Rockwell International and PPG Industries. In August 1995, she accepted a position with Rockwell International as a senior advisor-external reporting. She was responsible for SEC filings, monthly financial statements, and the annual report. In January 1997, she was promoted to manager-pension and retiree medical accounting.

In February 1997, she relocated to Troy, Mich. to accept the position of manager-external reporting for Meritor Automotive, a spin-off company from Rockwell International. In this role, she was responsible for all SEC filings, assisting with the spin-off of the new entity and the annual report. She served in this role until February 1999 when she was promoted to director of Accounting. This position included full responsibility for the Corporate General Accounting department as well as coordination with all plant locations. Finally, in July 2000, she assumed the role of director-Benefits Accounting and Administration. In this position, she handled all aspects of technical accounting and reporting relating to pensions, retiree medical, stock options, incentive plans, and other benefit accounting issues.

In January 2005, she left ArvinMeritor (formerly Meritor) to assume the role of primary caregiver for her three children, as they started their first years in school. In August 1995, Sheila and her husband Ted (IUP '89) relocated to Chicago, Ill. where she continues to raise her family.
