Accounting Major

Chelsey Kreinbrook"I have been attending IUP for three and a half years now, and I've had many experiences. My understanding of the business world and the world in general has grown to great lengths with the education that I have obtained at IUP. The professors have not only taught me the material of accounting concepts, but they have taught me lessons about life through stories that they have shared about their lives. IUP has been a great fit for me, and I am glad that I chose to be a part of the Eberly College of Business at IUP.

"My name is Chelsey Kreinbrook, and I am currently obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. I grew up on a dairy farm in Dawson, Pennsylvania. I attended Geibel Catholic High School in Connellsville, Pa. While at Geibel, I was captain of the volleyball team, secretary of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Spanish Honor Society. Geibel was where I decided to choose Indiana University of Pennsylvania for the next chapter of my life.

"When I was growing up, I never had a set plan of what I wanted to be when I was older. In my senior year of high school, I decided to choose Finance as my major. The next step was to decide on a college that would suit my lifestyle. Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) was a top contender for my college choice because I was being highly recruited to play for the IUP Women's Volleyball Team. It was always a dream of mine to play a collegiate sport, so I chose Indiana University of Pennsylvania to complete my Finance degree, which has since been changed to Accounting, and play volleyball.

"I have been a member of the IUP Women's Volleyball team for almost four years. I have learned many valuable lessons. By dealing with the stress of playing a sport and going to class, I have learned to manage my time rather well. Also, I have learned to deal with people's different personalities and attitudes.

"I served as a team captain for two years. As a result of being a captain, I learned how to deal with team issues that came about over the years. I was seen as a leader of the team and as a person that was there for teammates if they ever needed to talk. As a captain, I tried to set a good example on and off the court. The experiences I gained from being a leader will help me as I move into the workplace.

"The IUP volleyball team has grown over the last four years as we took major steps in rebuilding the team. I could say that I was a factor in rebuilding the team, but I did not accomplish anything without my teammates.

"To end my senior season, I had my first trip to the NCAA Regional Playoffs with my team. Although we lost in the first round, I can say that I was part of the hard work and dedication that it took to make the postseason.

"Although volleyball was a major part of my decision, I came to IUP to, first and foremost, obtain a great education. I chose IUP because, overall, the campus atmosphere and location seemed like the right fit for me. The chance to play volleyball on a scholarship was the icing on the cake. I knew that IUP had a strong business program, and the new look and feel of Eberly made the choice even easier.

"I chose IUP and the Eberly College of Business because I knew of the strong and professional faculty members. I knew that if I obtained my degree from IUP that I would be able to be proud of my degree, and people would be able to say, Wow! She is an IUP graduate.'"

Chelsey currently works for S&T Bank as a Credit Analyst II in Indiana, Pennsylvania (as of Fall 2013).
