Kelly Berfield has been in the field of public accounting for
approximately 25 years, where she has been a partner at Smith, Lewis, Chess
& Company, LLP since 2005. Kelly conducts accounting and tax services for
clients in a broad array of industries, including manufacturing, real estate,
medical, construction, and not-for-profit organizations.
Kelly is a December 1993 graduate of Indiana University of
Pennsylvania, earning a degree in accounting. Kelly spent the first part of her
career in public accounting, gaining a broad background of experience with the
firms Louis Plung & Company in Pittsburgh and Deluzio &
Company in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. In 1999, she was licensed as a CPA.
In addition to her work at her firm, Kelly currently serves as
the treasurer of the Alice Paul House and as a member of the board of directors
for the Indiana County United Way. She is also actively involved in the
Business and Professional Women’s Club. Kelly received the Indiana County
Athena Award in 2014.
Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband, Chad, her stepchildren, Maitlyn and Brennen, and their beagle, Plato, and Labrador retriever,
Chalky. Kelly and Chad can often be seen at IUP and Homer Center High School
sporting events cheering on the local teams.
