SHOW YOUR WORK: Eric Brennan, a graduate student specializing in drawing, looks over his work in his campus studio prior to showing it at a regional exhibit. As a graduate student, you'll get your own, individual studio space.
As a graduate student in the Art and Design Department, you will have the opportunity to participate
in numerous activities that will further enrich your artistic endeavors.
The Graduate Art Student Association organizes a visiting artist program where students select an internationally renowned artist for studio visits and lectures. Be a part of this important group, and have a voice in who critiques your work! As a graduate assistant, you are a role model for undergraduates and help guide their artwork alongside your faculty mentor. We have an active student government as well as a group of student senators in IUP’s University Senate, which also includes faculty and administrators.
With more than 220 clubs, club sports, and student
organizations, you can enjoy your favorite hobbies or try something new. Write
for the campus newspaper, play men’s club soccer, or women’s ice hockey. Check
out the anime club, the drill team, the conversation club, the DJ club, the
outing club, or the paintball club. Maybe try fencing, the African dance
ensemble, or the video game club.
There are open auditions for many instrumental ensembles, choirs,
and the marching band. Students also participate in theater productions
and the Dance Theater company. Other events, such as talent
nights and book talks, can be found in coffee shops on and near campus and at a
downtown Indiana theater building.
