The Anthropology Department’s Ben Ford was recently selected to head the Society for Historical Archaeology Co-Publication Series.

The Society for Historical Archaeology has agreements with the University of Florida Press, University of Nebraska Press, and Springer to publish books bearing both the SHA and publisher imprint. SHA Co-Publications produces both individual books and series, including When the Land Meets the Sea (Springer), Historical Archaeology of the West (Nebraska), and Material Culture (Nebraska). Many Co-Publications authors are new to publishing and benefit from the extensive mentorship offered by Co-Publications. SHA receives royalties from Co-Publications that are used to support the Society’s mission.

In addition to books published with press partners, SHA also produces special publications containing both new and reprinted information. These special publications allow the society to disseminate important information that may not be suitable for a traditional publication.

Supported by 12 associate editors, Ford now serves as the editor for both the Co-Publication and Special Publication series. His responsibilities include coordinating with press partners, pairing authors with associate editors, mentoring authors, soliciting manuscripts, and reviewing publication projects. Ford is deeply committed to the Co-Publications Series because he published his first book with this series. He has published with the Springer, Nebraska, and Special Publications series and is looking forward to supporting new scholars and the Society for Historical Archaeology.
