The School of Graduate Studies and Research at IUP is pleased to announce a new 30-credit M.Ed. in Education, Instruction and Learning specialization through our college of Education and Communications. This fully online program is designed for K-12 teachers and other professionals who are seeking an advanced degree in education. Coursework will target human learning and development, the effective implementation of educational technologies, working with diverse populations of learners, assessment and assessment-informed instruction, and school law and negotiations.
15 credits of core coursework will be required, and students can choose 15 credits of electives from areas such as human learning and development, assessment, instructional design, and literacy. Graduates of this program will be able to:
- Synthesize and evaluate contemporary research targeting motivation, classroom management, instruction, and assessment in K - 12 classrooms.
- Describe the impact of modern technologies in classroom and instructional practice and explain why they are critical to student learning.
- Apply evidence-based strategies for planning, delivering, and assessing instruction in classrooms with academically and ethnically diverse learners.
- Display positive dispositions toward professional learning opportunities, teaching, and the fulfillment of students’ potential.
This program is fully online and can be completed in an academic year (i.e., Fall, Spring, and Summer).
