  • Make your Culinary Certificate an Associate Degree

    Complete the Culinary Arts program with a 2.0 or higher GPA and continue your studies for one additional semester (12 credits of liberal studies) to earn the Culinary Arts, Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. All students who have successfully completed the Culinary Arts program are guaranteed admission into the Culinary AAS program.

    If you have not previously attended the culinary programs at IUP, apply to Culinary Arts and select the Culinary Associate in Applied Science as your preferred degree option on the Culinary Admissions Application.

    How the Program Works

    • You must be enrolled at IUP and have completed at least two semesters of the Culinary Arts program, to be eligible to submit your application to the Culinary AAS program.
    • Select an entry term for the Culinary AAS liberal studies coursework that begins after your externship is scheduled to be complete.
    • Complete your externship in the fall of your sophomore year.
    • In the spring of your sophomore year, begin your liberal studies coursework.*

    Choose to study full-time on the Punxsutawney campus and take advantage of a 20 percent tuition discount, or complete your studies online. (Part-time is an option!)

    Four classes (12 credits)

    • Indiana campus or online: $5,331.40
    •  Punxsutawney campus (20 percent discount): $4,350.80

    Room and Board

    Optional Punxsutawney On-Campus Housing

    • Four bedroom, two bath: $3,500
    • 10 meals with $100 Flex: $1,478

    Not Sure About Which Degree Option to Choose?

    No worries. Choose your degree path at any time during your studies. You can even choose to apply the credits earned in Culinary Arts toward your associate degree any time within 10 years after your culinary graduation.

    *College classes completed prior to attending the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts may fill some or all of the Culinary AAS liberal studies requirement. All courses will require evaluation.
