The President’s Commission on the Status of Women at IUP is part of a larger network of such commissions at all fourteen member universities of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
All are charged with examining the status of women at the individual universities, identifying areas that need improvement, recommending solutions for problems, promoting networking, and encouraging leadership among women.
Women’s Fall Reception
The IUP Women’s Commission, in conjunction with the Women’s Studies Program, and the PASSHE Women’s Consortium, will invite all students and employees to attend a reception honoring all women on campus on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Breezedale Alumni Center. The Office of Social Equity and Civic Engagement is cosponsoring this event.
Pennsylvania Governor’s Conference for Women
The Office of Social Equity and Civic Engagement will coordinate IUP’s representation at the sixth annual Pennsylvania Governor’s Conference for Women on September 17, 2009, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Hosted by Governor Edward G. Rendell and the PA-Commission for Women, this conference features nationally recognized speakers who will address the critical issues facing women today, helping them to find clarity on their goals and what they need to accomplish them. Attendeees will get an opportunity to gain ideas, insights, and tools to help them grow both personally and professionally.
2009 PASSHE Women’s Consortium Annual Conference
Creativity and Change: Women Shaping the Future is the theme of this year’s 2009 PASSHE Women’s Consortium annual conference, which is being held November 5–6, 2009. Each year, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Women’s Consortium holds an annual conference at one of the member campuses. West Chester University of Pennsylvania will be the host site this year. The consortium members of the host institution plan the conference. This conference is designed to address issues and concerns facing women students, staff, and faculty.
