While it's true that IUP is a state-owned university, only 29 percent of its budget comes from the state. Tuition covers less than 60 percent of the actual cost of students' education. That's why gifts from private sources are so important to the university's overall financial health and to the student experience.
And, that's why we celebrate generosity of others during IUP Philanthropy Day--and say thanks to them.
IUP Philanthropy Day takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 in the Stapleton Library Commons. The idea is to create awareness about the role that philanthropic support plays in the financial stability of the university and the financial assistance such generosity plays in the form of scholarships to students. Philanthropy Day also kicks off the University Family Campaign.
So, why is it important to thank the alumni, parents, employees, and friends who give financial support to IUP?We want our donors to know that we acknowledge and appreciate their generous support to the university. Our donors have the power to make a difference in the college experience of current and future students, through both involvement and financial support.
