Upward Bound Math and Science

The Upward Bound Math and Science Program at IUP provides an enriching educational experience. It is designed to strengthen the math and science skills of potentially first generation college students and low income students to develop their potential to excel in math and science and encourage them to pursue post secondary degrees in these fields.

Program benefits continue throughout the academic year. These include individual and group study-skill-building sessions, academic and social counseling, and mentoring. Research projects originating in the summer program can be continued during the academic year. College visits and cultural enrichment opportunities also take place during the academic year.

Upward Bound student Christina Bryner realized that a bachelor's degree was within reach when she attended IUP's Upward Bound program as a high school student.

With guidance from the staff and several scholarships, she is now a senior accounting and finance major and a portfolio manager for the Student-Managed Portfolio Investment Project.
