Landing a Summer Job

April 25, 2009

Picture of Meggie using GRP with flag and stringI just landed a summer job for before and after I’m in China.

We were at the Society for American Archaeology conference, presenting our research on Dividing Ridge. My mom called me and told me about this geophysical consulting firm from my hometown that had a booth at the conference. She had been looking at the program on line. I went over and talked to the owner, and he wants to bring me on for the summer.

It would deal with more environmental work than archaeological—looking for modern features rather than prehistoric. For example, if someone’s doing construction, and there’s oil leaking, they may ask us to find out where it’s coming from. But I would still be gaining knowledge and learning new techniques.
