College of Fine Arts

Music Theater ProductionState-of-the-art facilities. A talented faculty dedicated to expanding the minds and skills of students. A balance of high professional standards and rigorous, current educational practice. And an emphasis—on stage, in the studio, and in class—on a culturally and ethnically diverse world of art. That’s what students can expect from the College of Fine Arts at IUP.

With one of the largest arts programs in Pennsylvania, the College of Fine Arts offers professional degree programs in Art, Music, Theater and Dance, and Interdisciplinary Fine Arts. Programs leading to certification to teach art and music are offered in cooperation with the College of Education and Educational Technology, and minors are available in art, music, and theater and dance.

The College of Fine Arts has dedicated facilities for each of its departments, including an auditorium, two theaters, three art galleries, a university museum, a recital hall, a computer laboratory, and a state-of-the-art dance studio. It also offers a renovated area for art students to work with sculpture and clay and a newly renovated music building—one of the finest music teaching facilities in the state at nearly 64,000 square feet. And further demonstrating its commitment to the arts, the university recently joined the exclusive ranks of All-Steinway Schools—educational institutions that use pianos produced only by New York-based Steinway & Sons.

Sponsoring two hundred to three hundred arts events annually, the College of Fine Arts allows students to develop their talents locally, regionally, and nationally, as well as take part in international student exchange. As a gift of enrichment and a celebration of the human spirit, the college also regularly presents plays, concerts, exhibitions, and recitals featuring the work of students, faculty, and visiting arts professionals.
