Welcome to the IUP family!
Throughout the spring and summer, you will receive a great deal of information from Culinary Admissions at IUP, both through standard mail and e-mail. Make sure you open and carefully read this information, so that you have a smooth transition to campus life at IUP this August.
Here is some information concerning student orientation, tuition payment, and the first day of class for culinary students.
Student Orientation
The goal of orientation is to help you transition from school or work to IUP. The more familiar you are with IUP, the more likely you are to be successful here. Orientation introduces you to IUP faculty and staff, helps you understand some of the academy’s basic policies and procedures, and gives you an opportunity to meet and get to know some of the culinary students who you will be attending class with this year. You will also have a chance to participate in a student-to-student forum where you can get your quesitons answered by students who have just completed their first year at IUP.
There are two phases of culinary orientation. Phase One takes place at the IUP main campus in Indiana and Phase Two is held at the Culinary campus in Punxsutawney.
Phase One Culinary Orientation: Friday, August 7, 2009, at the IUP main campus in Indiana, Pa.
Phase Two Culinary Orientation: Sunday, August 30, 2009, at the Academy of Culinary Arts in Punxsutawney, Pa.
Classes Begin: Monday, August 31, at 8:00 a.m.
Attendance is mandatory at both phases of student orientation. If you must be excused from school and/or work to attend this orientation, we can provide you an excuse on our office stationery. Check the proper box on the enrollment form, and the excuse will be in your Orientation folder upon your arrival.
Billing Information
Your fall semester bill will be available on line the last week of July. You will be able to view the bill on line through IUP’s Easy Pay system at the Bursar’s Office. This bill will need to be paid in full before August 7, 2009, or arrangements made for payment options through IUP’s Bursar’s Office. Proof of payment from the Bursar will be required before we will be able to release your uniform order.
