Sutton Scholarship

Sutton Hall from the East Lawn

We are delighted to add the Sutton Scholarship Fund to our wide array of merit, need-based, and program-specific scholarships our alumni and friends have established through the years. New students to IUP who qualify may receive a $2,000 award, or a $2,000 award renewable over four years for those who meet academic requirements.

Scores of alumni and employees have contributed to the Sutton Scholarship fund, while the Class of 2012 designated the scholarship as one that would benefit from the Senior Class Gift. To ensure the recruitment and awarding of scholarships to high-achieving new students, the Foundation for IUP Board of Directors has generously supported the fund.

For Sutton Scholarship eligibility, an applicant must:

  • Be a permanent Pennsylvania resident
  • Complete an IUP Application for Undergraduate Admission
  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid

Sutton Scholarship Minimum Qualifications

  • 3.25 GPA or higher
  • Score 1050 or higher on the SAT critical reading and math sections or a 23 on the ACTs

This scholarship is awarded annually, provided that the student maintains the following:

  • CQPA of 2.50 or higher at the conclusion of the freshman year
  • CQPA of 2.75 or higher at the conclusion of subsequent years

Please Note: Meeting minimum qualifications does not guarantee the receipt of a scholarship, only that you will be considered for one. Sutton Scholarships are extremely competitive. The Sutton Scholarships awarded through the Office of Admissions are primarily awarded to participants in the Sutton Scholars event. Competitive students who meet various criteria will be invited to participate in this event according to availability of awards and the strength of the applicant pool each year. Awardees will be notified by mail.
