The Multicultural Information Center was established in 2002 as a committee of the Admissions office at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

It consists of minority students from various organizations and departments on campus:

Mission

The mission of the Multicultural Information Center is to introduce prospective and incoming minority students to faculty, staff, and students.

In addition, the MIC exposes new students to resources, programs, organizations, and support services that enrich the minority community at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

MIC’s Primary Goals

  • To acquaint new minority students to the minority community at IUP by providing valuable information in a comfortable atmosphere
  • To develop a sense of family and awareness of the minority community support network
  • To provide a holistic orientation experience for all new students at IUP by showcasing the broad multicultural community at IUP

MIC’s Secondary Goals

  • Assist the Admissions office in its efforts to recruit minority students through the following:
    • Mailings
    • Campus tours
    • Mentoring
    • Telecounseling
    • Student panels
    • High school visits
