How to Request an Official Paper Transcript

Students can request official transcripts in several ways.

If on campus during business hours, the student can go to the Registrar’s Office in Clark Hall and complete a transcript request form. It only takes a minute to complete, and the student is assured that the request is expeditiously received. (Note: Financial holds on accounts will prevent the processing of requests.)

There will not be any charge to students for ordering official transcripts which require routine processing. Any special handling requests can also be made at that time, and special handling requests will have fees assessed. When visiting the Registrar’s Office in person, the student can pay for any special handling requests with cash, check, money order, or a credit card. The Registrar reserves the right to refuse requests for an excessive number of transcripts or to charge a reasonable fee.

If the student is away from the IUP campus, the student can mail or fax a written request to the Registrar’s Office, or order an electronic transcript online for $10 per copy.

You may print out and complete the Request Form, or simply provide the following information within your request:

  • Student’s name (include any previous names from time student began coursework at IUP)
  • Student ID number or Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Dates of attendance at IUP
  • Your return address and a daytime phone number where you can be reached
  • Your e-mail address if you wished to be notified as to when your transcript was processed
  • The number of transcripts requested
  • Name, title, and address of person to whom each transcript is to be sent
  • Indicate whether any special handling is to be done in the transcript processing.
  • When having multiple transcripts mailed to you, indicate if they should be placed in separate, sealed envelopes.
  • The student’s handwritten signature and date must appear on the request.
  • For mailed requests, enclose a check payable to “IUP” to cover the cost of any special handling fee.
  • Faxed requests must contain credit card information if special handling is requested. Include the cardholder’s name, card number, the three-digit pin number on the back, expiration date, and type of card (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted). If the address on the credit card is different than your return address, the credit card zip code must be included.

Special Handling Fees

  1. RUSH Service Fee (Rush transcripts are mailed the next business day from receipt of the request) = $4.00 per copy
  2. FAX Service Fee (Fax transcripts are unofficial and are faxed next day) = $4.00 per individually faxed transcript
  3. SAME DAY Service Fee (Mail/pick up same day) = $10 per copy
  4. SAME DAY Service Fee (Fax same day) = $10 per copy
  5. RUSH and SAME DAY requests must be received in the Registrar’s Office by 2:00 p.m. in order to be processed. It is recommended that Same Day transcript requests NOT be scanned and sent via e-mail. We cannot guarantee these will be processed the same day during peak business hours within the semester if sent scanned, via e-mail.

Due to compliance with federal regulations regarding confidentiality of educational records, the Registrar’s Office cannot process requests made over the telephone, by e-mail, or by anyone other than the student whose transcript is being requested.
