We measure our success one student at at time. After being accepted by IUP Admissions, applicants to majors in the College of Fine Arts also require departmental acceptance through an audition or portfolio review. Each student will audition or present their work at a Fine Arts Day.
DecisionDesk lets you register your audition online, including video uploads. For those at a great distance from IUP, you can even use this as your audition. Visit DecisionDesk to start your application. Read below for audition dates.
Programs of Study
We offer Bachelor of Arts degrees in three areas. Each degree offers both breadth and depth, allowing for exploration and concentrated study. Our interdisciplinary degrees offer flexiblity across strong, nationally accredited programs.
Please Note: “INFA Dance Arts” and “INFA Musical Theater” are listed alphabetically, and separately from “Theater,” in the Admissions Application.
Request More Information
Ready to take the next step? You can request more information about studying theater or dance at IUP. Also, look around our website, beginning with About Theater and Dance at IUP.
Since 1995, our Theater programs have been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theater, and their FAQ page is a good resource for thinking about majoring in Theater in higher education.
Audition Dates
Once you are accepted by IUP Admissions and have chosen one of our majors, you will receive an invitation to audition on the next available audition date. If you will not be able to attend the assigned audition date, you may choose another date. Auditions are part of our Fine Arts Days program and required for acceptance into all of our major programs. It is important that, when you are completing your application, you choose the major for which you will be auditioning.
Audition dates for Fall 2013 admission are as follows:
- Wednesday, August 2: Theater and Dance only. No Musical Theater auditions.
If you have questions regarding the Fine Arts Days auditions, please contact Toni Apryasz, department secretary, at 724-357-2965 or tonia@iup.edu.
“I’ve been acting in New York, the San Francisco Bay Area, and on national and international tours for about six years, including performances in Russia and China. I can proudly say that IUP prepared me for a career where my primary means of support is acting.”
