Watch IUP Theater Alumna in Tyler Perry Television Series “Too Close to Home”

On Monday night, September 12, Trisha Rae Stahl will host a watch party in Los Angeles to see her debut in a new TV series. She hopes a lot of people back here at IUP will be watching, too. Stahl, a 1998 IUP graduate, recently completed work on the first season of the drama series.

“Delirium,” a Riff on “The Brothers Karamazov”

“Spelling Bee” Is Quirky Musical

IUP’s Theater-by-the-Grove and Music Theater will present its season finale, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” on April 14–17 and 20–23 at 8:00 p.m. and April 17 at 2:00 p.m. The hit musical will be presented on the Waller Hall Mainstage of the IUP Performing Arts Center.

New Musical Theater Degree Approved

The University Senate approved the new BA in Musical Theater program, replacing the Department of Theater and Dance’s Interdisciplinary Fine Arts–Musical Theater Track. The new program integrates a more comprehensive degree and includes four new courses designed for the actor-singer-dancer.

Theater Department Receives Grants from National Endowment for the Arts and from United Way

Footlight Players has received an ArtWorks grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support their summer youth theater program in 2012–2013, and also a grant from the United Way to provide funding for four young people to attend Footlight at a deeply reduced cost.

Dance Performance at Carnegie Museum Rescheduled

Due to weather conditions, the workshop and performance by the IUP Dance Theater at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History for February 6, 2010, was postponed and is now rescheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2010. The student dance ensemble will perform scenes from Out of the Deep, a work originated by choreographer Holly Boda-Sutton in collaboration with poet Rosaly Roffman and composer David Berlin.
