Department of Theater and Dance

Welcome to the Department of Theater and Dance at IUP!

• We are committed to providing challenging undergraduate programs and a wide variety of opportunities every semester.
• In a creative and nurturing environment, students actively learn, both in the classroom and in productions.
• We offer over fifty theater and dance courses ranging from beginning to advanced levels in acting, dance, directing, design, and technical theater.
• Theater-by-the-Grove and the IUP Dance Theater Company support numerous creative opportunities in six fully realized Mainstage productions each year, including one musical.
• Additional creative opportunities are provided in studio, touring and workshop productions.
• We have been successfully engaged in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival with yearly regional and national recognition of our students’ production work.
• We are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre, the only accrediting body for theater in higher education recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Footlight Players

Theater and Dance offers a summer enrichment program for children 7 to 17 through Footlight Players Theater-For-Youth June 15 through July 13.
