Teaching and Sensitivity

HUB Monongahela Room

Sadie Mummert from the Criminology Department will discuss how teaching and talking about victimization and other sensitive topics/experiences in college courses may result in students feeling re-victimized or realizing they have been affected by these topics/experiences during those conversations. She will provide tips and strategies for instructors to be more aware of and sensitive to the life experiences of their students.

Google Apps for In-class Assessment

HUB-Monongahela Room

Have you ever wondered if your students were ‘getting it’ and wished you had a way to quickly assess their understanding?  Thanks to several Google apps, you can now survey the class and have the results analyzed in an instant.  Kahoot, Plickers, Socrative, and Google Forms are fun, powerful tools that will change the way that you gauge your students’ knowledge.
