By studying abroad, you can immerse yourself in a foreign country, soak up new language and perspective, and come back to IUP with credits that count toward your degree. Find out how you can study abroad on the IUP Study Abroad website.
What is study abroad?
Study abroad is the successful completion of university-level coursework at another higher education institution outside of the United States. By completing appropriate pre-approval procedures, students are eligible to receive academic credit at IUP for courses taken abroad.
Who is eligible to study abroad?
Students of all majors can study abroad for a summer, a semester, or a full year.
To study abroad, students must
- Have a minimum grade-point average of 2.5 (some programs require 3.0)
- Be physically and emotionally prepared to spend four to nine months in another country and setting
- Be willing to adapt to a new, potentially challenging environment
What options for studying abroad are available?
Students can choose from IUP reciprocal exchanges (one-for-one exchanges), third-party programs such as Amizade and AustraLearn, and study-abroad programs led by IUP faculty members.
