For Current and Prospective Students

Welcome to the IUP Department of Spanish! The department offers three majors, two minors, an honors program, and three study abroad programs.

We encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities to become immersed in the Spanish language and Hispanic culture, including study abroad, Spanish club, student publications and perhaps by living in the Spanish language floor, Piso Cervantes, now housed in the new Suites-on-Grant.

Course Credit by OPI: Details about the process whereby incoming students may earn IUP Spanish course credits for their oral proficiency levels in Spanish.

Piso Cervantes: Located on the first floor of Delaney Hall, the Piso Cervantes cluster provides a residential learning community for students having a major or minor in Spanish.
Proficiency Guidelines: The Department of Spanish has guidelines to help coordinate proficiency-oriented instruction.
