    Services and Description

    • Each semester, the Women’s Studies Program conducts or cosponsors a series of activities on campus. Over the past several years the program has sponsored numerous speakers, gender-balance conferences, several exhibits (e.g., a quilt exhibit, an artistic installation, and a curated art exhibit), an educational documentary exhibit, several concerts, a symposium, three regional conferences, receptions, forums, book discussions, colloquia, films, and more.
    • IUP offers a minor in Women's Studies. The Women's Studies minor is designed to examine the status and experiences of women from a multidisciplinary perspective.
    • The Women’s Studies Program also publishes a monthly newsletter, The Women’s Times, which serves as a resource for information about Women’s Studies programming, community events, activism, opportunities for networking, and conference information.
    • Women's Studies has a small collection of books of interest. You may browse in the library during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Books may be borrowed for a two-week period. Also, films have been placed in the IUP library over the past several years which may be used for classes or viewed for personal interest.

    Services and Description

    • The President’s Commission on the Status of Women at IUP is part of a larger network of such commissions’ at all fourteen member universities of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. All are charged with examining the status of women at the individual universities, identifying areas that need improvement, recommending solutions for problems, promoting networking, and encouraging leadership among women students.
    • Through that effort, we are providing you with this directory of resources (organized by category) that may raise your awareness of the many opportunities and services available to women at IUP and in the local community.

    Services and Description

    • SAGE is a feminist organization on campus. The members seek to point out and combat the inequality between men and women in our society. They promote sexual health, awareness, and expression through activism and education. Their wish is to see a world where people can develop into healthy full individuals, regardless of their gender identity or expression.
