Originally from Towanda, Pennsylvania, Leslie Miller Purser is one of only 10 two-star generals in the U.S. Army Reserve. An IUP alumna from the class of 1980, MG Purser has over 31 years of military service that includes tours in Baghdad, Iraq, and serving as the director of Intelligence, Plans, and Policy for the U.S. Army in the Pentagon. MG Purser will discuss leadership as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated career field.
MG Leslie A. Purser began her military career on May 25, 1980, when she was commissioned as a second lieutenant into the United States Army. She is a graduate of Military Intelligence Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, United States Army Command and General Staff School, and the United States Army War College. MG Purser is a distinguished military graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she received her B.A. degree in Graphic Art, and of the United States Army War College, where she received her M.S.S. degree in Strategic Studies.
