The mission of the Service Learning Office is to promote excellence in professional and personal character development through experiential learning opportunities that bridge the curriculum with community service. It does this by implementing two separate programs.
1. Service Learning Program
Through the Service Learning Program, students who have been awarded Federal Work Study money may be placed at a human service agency in order to earn their Federal Work Study award. The office maintains direct contact with Service Learning students throughout their term of employment and those students are encouraged to share any comments or concerns with their agency supervisor and/or the Service Learning coordinator. This enables the office to assure the highest possible quality experience to all students.
2. Volunteer Services
The Office of Service Learning strives to help students wanting or needing community service hours. This is done by informing students of opportunities in the Indiana area and helping agencies find volunteers. The office also assists groups of students that are interested in fundraising for a non-profit agency.
