Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief

First a 9.0 earthquake. Then a forty-foot high tsunami. And then radiation from multiple nuclear accidents. Thousands have died. Hundreds of thousands are homeless. People in Japan need our help!

From March 28 until April 1, 2011, student volunteers in the Japanese Student Organization, Asian Studies Club, and Religious Studies Club will be collecting donations to aid those affected by the three disasters. Funds will be collected each afternoon at the HUB Fitness Center Atrium and on the patio in front of Stapleton Library, and each evening outside of Foster Dining Hall.

Don’t forget, no matter how big or small the contribution, every donation will help! All funds will be sent to the Japanese Consulate in New York City and, from there, routed to charitable disaster relief organizations in Japan.

If you don’t see the student volunteers and would like to contribute, you can donate by check: make the check out to “IUP,” indicate in the memo section that the money is for the “Japan Relief Fund,” and send the check via intercampus mail to Dr. Stuart Chandler, Department of Religious Studies, 452 Sutton Hall.

On Tuesday, April 12, 2011, donations are being accepted at the International Lunch Hour, sponsored by the Office of International Education, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Crimson Event Center, Folger Hall.
