The mission of the Research Institute is to advance the research agenda and educational objectives of Indiana University of Pennsylvania by encouraging, promoting, conducting, administering, and supporting research in the natural sciences, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, education, health and human services, business, information technology, and other academic disciplines.
The Research Institute provides a full range of products and services designed to provide “cradle-to-grave” support for IUP faculty and staff pursuing or engaged in sponsored program activity.
The institute is comprised of five directorate offices:

- Office of Fiscal Affairs
- Office of Technology Development
