Jane Gardner, Business Development and Training, received an external award from the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board, Inc., in the amount of $21,640 for her project, “MBA Certificate Program—Tri-County WIB.”

Ms. Lisa Brochetti, Center for Career and Technical Personnel Preparation, received an external award from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry in the amount of $51,645 for her project, “New Choices.”

Dr. Steven Hovan, Department of Geoscience, received an external award in the amount of $45,735 from the Consortium for Ocean Leadership for his project, “Eolian Records of Tradewind Strength and Latitudinal Position of the ITCZ in the Tropical Pacific.”

Dr. Beverly Chiarulli, Department of Anthropology, received an external award in the amount of $25,933 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for her project, “PennDot Curation Task 14.”

The purpose of the IUP Innovation Awards program is to encourage innovative approaches to research, teaching, and other creative activities by IUP faculty members. Grant awards up to $10,000 will be made on a competitive basis.

Dr. Seema Bharathan and Dr. N. Bharathan, Department of Biology, along with seven Biology students, have collaborated on research which was selected for presentation at the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research April 15–17, 2010, at the University of Montana.

Louis Pesci, Highway Safety Center, received an external award in the amount of $50,000 from the PPL Services Corporation for his project, “2010 Advanced Driver Training at Harwood Driving School.”
