System for Award Management (SAM) is the official, free online registrant database for the U.S. federal government. SAM collects, validates, stores, and disseminates data in support of agency acquisition and award missions.
To be eligible to register in SAM, you must have a Data Universal Numbering System (D-U-N-S®) number. The D-U-N-S number is assigned by Dun & Bradstreet, Inc. (D&B) to identify unique business entities.
If your business doesn't already have one, obtain a D&B D-U-N-S number online or by calling 1-866-705-5711. Please note: You must wait 24 to 48 hours after obtaining your D&B D-U-N-S number before starting to register in SAM.
