Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the many questions that frequently face students or prospective students of Psychology. These do not include ALL questions, and you should contact the Psychology Department if you continue to have questions.

Where can I get forms that I need?

For undergraduate psychology majors and minors, check out “For Current and Prospective Students” for some important forms you can download. Other forms are available (in person) through the office of the Department of Psychology or the office of the Dean of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

Where can I find registration information?

You should check the For Current and Prospective Students Psychology department page.

Can a person get a job with a degree in Psychology?

YES!  Check out our information for current and prospective students for more information on how to find the right path for you!

What is the Psychology Practicum?

The "Psychology Practicum" is the name of the department’s internship for undergraduate students. This is a course for which students receive academic credit while acquiring “hands-on” experience in psychology by working within a variety of community agencies, institutions, businesses, and industrial settings. Check out our web page section for current and prospective students for more information about the program.

Who is allowed to apply for an undergraduate practicum in Psychology?

All students who meet the university criteria for acceptance as an intern are invited to apply for intern status. The student must have at least junior standing (57 credits), a QPA of 2.0 or better, and at least 12 credits in Psychology when the internship begins. Only one practicum may be taken each semester, with a limit of 12 credits during the student’s tenure at IUP
