    Personal Narrative:

    Teaching is a Calling...

To whom much is given, much is required. As an educator, it is important for me to maintain high expectations, standards, and accountability for myself and my teacher candidates. In preparing teacher candidates, I believe that Maya Angelou said it best in her poem “Continue” . . . It is a message of empowerment and hope, of courage and generosity. It is a call to action . . . the answer to the question all of us ask ourselves about our ability to make a difference in our own lives and in the lives of others.

The question is “How?” The answer is “We must Continue” to be well prepared, to care for our students and to teach them every day “like the world is watching,” and always speak into existence a sense of HOPE . . . Helping Other People Excel.
