Promising Scholars Program

The Admissions Office gives exceptional incoming students who reside in Pennsylvania priority consideration for one of the most rewarding scholarships available from IUP through the Promising Scholars Program. One of our most valuable awards, Board of Governor’s scholarships awarded through the Promising Scholars program range from half to full in-state tuition annually. There are two Promising Scholars programs, one focusing on the Pittsburgh area (held at IUP) and one held in Philadelphia.

At this event, students are required to participate in an interview with an IUP representative, while strength of high school curriculum, demonstrated leadership qualities, and active participation in extracurricular activities are also taken into consideration. Additionally, students and their parents attending can gain valuable information from university officials about IUP’s academic programs, admission requirements, scholarship and grant opportunities, and much more.

Space is extremely limited, and only 30 students will be allowed to participate in each program. Please keep in mind that, in order to be selected as one of the first 30 students, you must meet all minimum academic requirements, complete your application for admission, submit transcripts and SAT/ACT scores, and submit the Promising Scholars RSVP form.
