Philosophy Colloquium: “Trump, Alternative Facts, and Objectivity in Journalism”

Humanities and Social Sciences Building, Rm. 224

In a series of colloquia this semester, the Philosophy Department will provide philosophical analyses of different aspects of our current political situation. The aim is to show how philosophical reflection can be helpful in making sense of recent political events and to provide a forum for members of the IUP community to engage in thoughtful discussion on the state of American politics.

Professor Eric Rubenstein will kick off this series with a presentation that focuses on the idea of objectivity in journalism and the questions that have been raised about the degree to which the press is objective and the extent to which pure objectivity is even possible.
