Dixon Center Course Requirements

  • Take your required course work with your classmates as a group, progressing through the required sequence of classes together. The two courses offered each Fall and Spring semester will take place at the Dixon University Center, with IUP faculty members using distance technologies.

    Classes will convene on weekends, primarily Saturdays, for 10–12 days per semester. In the Summer, students will attend all-day classes delivered in the traditional classroom format with an IUP professor at the Dixon Center.

    Year One:

    • Advanced Topics in Human Development and Learning
    • Writing for Professional Publication

    Summer: Six Credits

    • Doctoral Seminar in Research Methods

    Year Two:

    Fall: Six Credits

    • Qualitative Research Design in Education
    • Education for Cultural Pluralism

    Spring: Six Credits

    • Technology in the Curriculum
    • Literacy: Theory, Research, and Practice

    Summer: Six Credits

    • Issues and Processes in Curricular Change
    • Doctoral Seminar in Curriculum and Instruction

    Year Three:

    Fall: Six Credits

    • Comprehensive Evaluation of Educational Programs
    • Research Instrument Design

    Spring: Six Credits

    • Analysis of Qualitative Data
    • Elective

    Summer: Six Credits

    • Elective
    • Dissertation

    Year Four:

    Fall: Six Credits

    • Dissertation
