M&T Bank Scholarship
New for the 2010-2011 academic year, M&T Bank is funding nine $1,000 scholarships that will be awarded to incoming freshmen at the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) universities. Eligible students are required to complete an application form and write an essay.
Eligibility
- Student must reside in one of the following counties: Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Mifflin, and Perry.
- Student must be accepted as a full-time student at one of the fourteen Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities.
- Student must be from a low- to moderate-income family and need financial assistance to attend college.
- Student must show academic promise: top 25 percent of his/her high school graduating class and a high school GPA of 3.0 or better.
Amount Awarded
Each selected student will receive a one-year total award of $1,000 ($500 per semester). The student must remain a full-time student in good academic standing to receive the Spring semester award.
Student Requirements
- Complete the M&T Bank Scholarship Application.
- Submit a typewritten essay of approximately five hundred words on the following topic: How this scholarship will help you meet your education and career goals.
- Completed application and essay must be submitted by July 15, 2010, to Eileen Showers, Director of Scholarship Programs, PASSHE Foundation, 2986 North Second Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
Selection Procedure
The PASSHE Foundation Scholarship Committee will review, evaluate, and select the winners from all eligible applications received. Scholarship winners and their universities will be notified of the awards by the foundation's scholarship director prior to the start of the Fall semester.
