Consolidated Health Plans, Inc. (Overview)
Consolidated Health Plans is a high-quality, cost-effective student insurance plan offered to IUP students. Consolidated Health Plans is the endorsed vendor for student group health insurance at IUP. We highly recommend that all students have health insurance for all off-campus health needs. Undergraduates who are enrolled in six or more units of credit are eligible for the plan. All graduate students, part-time and full-time, are eligible for the plan. Students enrolling in Consolidated Health Plan must also be covered by the IUP Wellness Fee A.
Consolidated offers insurance benefits as well as prescription coverage through Express Scripts that is accepted at the majority of pharmacies in Indiana. For more information, contact the health center at 724-357-6475 or e-mail us at health-inquiry@iup.edu. This insurance plan meets the requirements for J visa holders.
Brochures are available at the health center. View a copy of the brochure Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan, 2012–2013. More information is available on the Consolidated Health Plans website. The Consolidated plan does require that students seek medical care from the university health center for most illnesses and injuries (see the brochure for more information and exceptions to the rule).
Students will need to enroll for health insurance individually and within the time frames set up by Consolidated Health Plan in order to be covered. There is no automatic billing or coverage by the university.
