SFC Folmar began his military career in 1994 in the United States Army Reserve. SFC Folmar was assigned to the 403rd Conus Replacement Company in Punxsutawney, Pa., for nine years. He then transferred to the 444th Personnel Services Battalion in Richmond, Va., for deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon return, SFC Folmar transferred to the 339th Combat Support Hospital and then moved on to the 99th Regional Readiness Command, both located in Pittsburgh, Pa.
SFC Folmar is a graduate of the Human Resource Specialist Course; Warrior Leadership Course; Advanced Leadership Course; Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical NCO Course; Hazmat Material Handling Certification Course; Unit Safety Officer Course; Basic Unit Administrator Course; and the Advanced Unit Administrator Course. He also graduated from the United States Army Recruiting Course at Fort Jackson, S.C.
During his time with the United States Army Reserve, SFC Folmar has been on two overseas missions: Yama Sakura, a joint training exercise with the Japanese Military, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His military awards and decorations include Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon, and Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon. SFC Folmar has also been awarded the Gold Recruiter Badge, Gold Recruiter Ring, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge, and Driver’s Badge.
