Spring Incentive Class Descriptions

The following classes were offered in Spring 2010. Look for similar programming to be offered in Fall 2010 and Spring 2011!

Ice Cap Swim

Each day, students, faculty, and staff are invited to come to the Ice Cap Swim. To receive the award, you must sign in four out of the five days.

Weekly Mile Swim

Students, faculty, and staff are challenged to come to the pool and incrementally swim a mile-swim course. On Mondays, you will swim ¼ mile. On Tuesday, ½ mile; and on Wednesday, ¾ of a mile. On Thursday, you will be challenged to swim one complete mile. Awards certificates will be given for each mile swam. (Active Boy Scouts can earn their Mile Swim Fitness Patch in this program).

Swim to Spring Break

Where do you want to go to Spring Break this year? You may not be able to afford a plane ticket, but you can swim there for free. That’s right, swim! Simply come to the pool, pick your perfect getaway destination, and we will convert the mileage to yardage. Then, from now until Spring Break, you swim the yardage. Complete the journey and you will be awesomely rewarded by the Aquatic Staff. So, what are you waiting for? Get your swim on!

This is open to the entire student body, faculty, and staff. This is designed as a personal fitness award, and you may complete your journey at your convenience during any of our lap swimming hours in Zink Pool. Sign in with the lifeguard and enjoy the water!

Daily Challenges

Here in Aquatics, we believe that fitness and challenge go hand-in-hand. If you are one of those people who is always up for a good personal challenge, we will incentivize this basic instinct to succeed. Simply come to Zink and ask the lifeguard on duty for your Daily Challenge. Should you choose to accept this mission, we will keep track of your accomplishments and you will receive a bodacious, gnarly award. Nothing like a good personal challenge to kick-start your life!
