Arrival Procedures: Transfer Students

Transfer Students

Residence hall check-in for students participating in Late Orientation (if you have contracted to live in an IUP residence hall) takes place from 1:00–3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015.  Details will be provided by the Office of Housing, Residential Living, and Dining.

For students not placement testing, program check-in is at 8:00 a.m. in the lobby of the Hadley Union Building (HUB). Please be prompt; however, there is no need to be early. During Orientation, you will be learning about your academic plan, IUP requirements, your transfer credit evaluation, and safety on campus. You will also be advised, and will register for your fall semester courses. If you are not sure that IUP has your final transcript, please bring a copy with you so that we can be sure to advise you as accurately as possible. (Note: any students [Business, Natural Sciences, Safety Sciences] needing to take the math test will be e-mailed approximately two days before the program, after we have received transcripts from the Admissions office. See the Orientation website for further information on math and transfers.)

Meal Information:

For residential students: Meal plans begin Thursday morning, August 20, 2015. After check-in at the residence hall on the 20th, please proceed to the HUB. Go to the I-Card office, have your photo taken, and get your I-Card. (Note: The HUB I-Card office closes at 5:00 p.m. on the 20th.) You will need your I-Card to eat dinner on the 20th.

For non-residential students: Students should eat breakfast on the 21st, before checking in for Orientation. Lunch on the 21st will be provided at the dining hall as part of Orientation. Students will eat dinner, at their own expense, after Orientation.

Remember that enrollment in Orientation constitutes your being on campus and participating in the program throughout its one-day duration. Course registration and Orientation conclude at approximately 5:00 p.m. Do not plan to leave before that time.

If you have questions about the Orientation program, please call our office at 724-357-4067 (VOICE/TD) Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or e-mail us at orientation-testing@iup.edu.

Parents and Family Members

Parent Orientations have ended for 2015. Information about spring and summer 2016 orientations will be available approximately mid-March 2016.

    Parking Information

During Orientation, students may park free of charge at unreserved spaces (space numbers 315–425). These spaces are located on the third and fourth floors of the parking garage. If you did not receive a parking pass in the mail, we will have one available for you when you arrive on campus.

Other than the unreserved spaces on the third and fourth floors of the IUP parking garage, if you choose to park at a meter—or pay-by-space location—either on campus or in town, you must put coins in the meter, or you will receive a ticket.

    Handicapped Parking

Persons with a handicapped license plate or placard and those with a special parking permit are permitted to park in handicapped spaces.
