Crimson HawksIUP’s Crimson Hawks made school history when the team made it to the championship game of the NCAA Division II tournament following a stellar 33-3 season.

The Crimson Crazies and hundreds of IUP fans made the trip to Springfield, Mass., for the tournament. While the Crimson Hawks fell to Cal Poly Pomona 65-53, the Hawks are still IUP’s champions, as noted on the sign below. The team joined community scholar-athletes for a celebratory parade on April 6 and then were honored by Governor Ed Rendell with a special luncheon in Harrisburg on April 8.

Crimson CraziesIUP’s Darryl Webb (number 15, above in the NCAA championship game) is the first IUP men’s basketball player named to an All-American Team since 2002 with his selection to the sixteen-man State Farm Coaches’ Division II All-America team, sponsored and voted on by the members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
