Celebratory parade

Community Recognition—The IUP’s men’s basketball team and community student-athletes were honored on April 6 with a celebratory parade (they were also honored by Governor Ed Rendell with a special luncheon in Harrisburg on April 8). The parade also recognized the Indiana High School girls basketball team, which advanced to the PIAA state championship game, and two Indiana High School swimmers.

IUP’s Crimson Hawks made school history when the team made it to the championship game of the NCAA Division II tournament following a stellar 33-3 season.
Basketball Team’s Rocco Receives NCAA Academic Award
IUP junior Joe Rocco has been named the recipient of the NCAA Elite 88 Academic Award for Division II men’s basketball and was recognized at a banquet Monday, before the start of the Elite Eight tournament, which gets under way Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in Springfield, Mass.

Legacy Gala Honors Cannon, Russell
Glenn Cannon, former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s disaster operations and a 1971 graduate of IUP, will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree and will serve as the keynote speaker for the May 9 university commencement ceremony.
